Hi everyone!
Welcome back to all of the Senior infant pupils and a special welcome to the new Junior infants who have settled in perfectly to our school. We have had a very busy month in September and we can’t wait to show you some of the things we have been up to. A very exciting part of our day in Junior and Senior infants is Aistear time. It is a time when we are split into groups and work together in four stations. Our stations are:
- Block and construction: In this group we have to use our problem solving skills to build and construct lots of buildings based on our theme every month.
- Playdough: In this group we focus on our fine motor skills and working well with our fingers. We make lots of interesting pictures and items linked to our theme. e.g. Leaves in Autumn.
- Creative kids: In this group we have so much fun cutting, sticking, using glue and colours to create many wonderful creations. We also have copybooks where we write sentences and practise our sounds.
- Socio-dramatic area: The best group of all! We get to play with each other in a make belief world and have so much fun!
Take a look at our first month’s theme: The Home Corner. We learned all of the names for the rooms in our homes and we learned the words of many items.
